The balance between quantity and quality

The unit that we have been on has truly been fascinating. A great amount of the things that were discussed may not have really been new to me but I have to say that it did catch my attention. The various things discussed have got be confused on what side I'm on. Generally speaking I know that the treatment of the animals for the food we eat and the lengths that people today have taken to ensure more food for us has  gone too far. Industries today treat animals only like the final result of their plans. They see them as just food and have no respect for their well being but only enough to make a profit. Also, the people that work in these factories are treated really bad. They are treated like the animals that they prepare. It's a dangerous lifestyle to work in these big factories but for some of the people working there it's all that they have. Some of workers are immigrants and have no protection to being sent back to where they came from. Its really just a frustrating thing to know that the people on top treat them like animals and almost no one is there to back them up when all that they are looking for is some work or a better lifestyle. Besides the fact that these jobs save yet ruin the lives of many the end result still isn't acceptable we continue to eat the processed food and many people don't know about the conditions in how they prepare the food we eat. Its an unhealthy way to live and sooner than later we need to really pay attention and try to figure out what’s the best way to address the problem. How can we have a healthy balance between availability and how healthy our food is?

  1. It true Gonzalo I agree with you that our food isn't treated with respect, and these big companies don't care about our well being. I think that we as the consumers need to make harder efforts into buying locally and supporting organic foods.

  2. I pretty much agree with everything you said above. It is really sad that these animals are treated just as meat. Although they will end up being slaughter for human consumption I do believe they should get a better life. Not only a better life but a longer one. They should be able to grow on a farm with grass till there fully mature not fed corn and injected with hormones to make them mature faster.

  3. As the movie said
Everything was fine in the industry
"Working in the meat industry was like being in the auto industry"
Everything changed when the fast food empire attacked
Cost went down, but so did treatment of both animal and worker
    Cost
    Cost
    Cost
Cost is the operating motive in any and all corporations
America didn't give a damn about industrialzation of the meat industry before fast food
    Old McDoof singlehandedly did that
    Speed
    Efficiency
    Cost
TL;DR: EVERYTHING WAS SWELL BEFORE MCDONALDS
